The New York FASHIONIZER.tv team captured the selected models for Hervé Legér’s runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in New York. The special behind-the-scene video frames the models backstage lining up for their photos just before the Hervé Legér autumn/winter show commenced. We think it sets the mood for the sporty, fun and sexy collection the fashion label has in store for us this fall.

This year Aurelio Costarella presented his spring/summer 2013/14 collection in ‘The Box” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. The box featured fashion installations presenting media with immaculate photo opportunities. The award-winning Australian designer’s collection was no exception. His embellished couture and ready-to-wear pieces instilled a sense of romance with sequins and waterfall draping. Although the label Aurelio Costarella was founded 13 years ago, the fashion designer himself is celebrating a whole 30 years in the industry in 2013. Brother-sister duo Camilla Freeman Topper and Marc Freeman created a dark collection for southern hemisphere spring/summer 2013/14.  Gold, leather and lace adorned the models on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. The Australian fashion designers celebrated 10 successful years in the fashion industry and opened the Australian fashion week with their SS collection. Each piece of the collection was characterised by effortless luxe. Gabriella Perezutti, the designer behind fashion house CANDELA produced a victorian detailing inspired collection for AW13 in New York for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Her Uruguayan ranching upbringing from a long family lineage inspires her equestrian and the traditional gaucho looks. Diverse traditional elements are bought together to create post modern RTW pieces.

The BCBGMaxAzria Fall13 collection was so amazing…. lots of beautiful layers of textures, bohemian prints , silks, leathers for this Ready to Wear runway show… the inspirations drawn from Instanbul, gypsies and artist Phil Frost.. A tougher, sportier outerwear style with all the girls wearing beanies for a grungier look and inspiration. Flowy silk dresses over pants and layers of gorgeous textures that created a warmth and soft look with an edgy feel. We interview Lubov Azria and as usual she extends a warmth and depth of inspiration behind this collection. Thank you Max & Lubov for your truly amazing designs.

Kookai Autmum Winter 13 Collection called “The Colour of Night” was held at the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art (ACCA) in Melbourne Australia. A collection inspired by the colours we see at night which included lots of black , silver and darker tones on predominantly lots of leather and some woollen textures. The leather cap was a true winner for me! Love and must have…. Nicole Trunfio took centre stage as the face of Kookai and Lara Bingle sits front row along with other Melbourne socialites including Eve club owners Nick and Rozalia Russian. Both Danielle Vagner, Creative Director of Kookai and CEO Rob Cromb are doing an amazing job with Kookai Australia/New Zealand

Vantan Tokyo, not a fashion label but esteemed design school (think Parsons of Japan), brought a few young designers stateside to present their collections in front of a packed house for the first time ever at New York Fashion Week. The result was a pleasing assortment of raw craftsmanship from four promising talents.

Although each segment had moments that screamed “senior thesis project,” the collections overall exhibited forward thinking aesthetics and strong points of view. The work of Yuya Kubohara — a 22-year-old wunderkind — stood out with quilted color block bomber jackets, geo knits, and unique prints recalling the best of Proenza Schouler.

Up and coming designers at there best.
